History of Tertiary Highway 803:

Tertiary Highway 803 was created out of a route renumbering in 1971. The road to Nighthawk Lake used to be known as Hwy 575, but the route number was changed to Hwy 803 in 1971. The road's main purpose is to serve as an access road from Hwy 101 to a gold mine near Nighthawk Lake. The highway remains a gravel road to this day. On April 1, 1997, the MTO turned Hwy 803 over to the City of Timmins. The highway is now known as Nighthawk Lake Road.
