History of Tertiary Highway 809:

This highway was created when a short 5 km section of Hwy 564 was re-designated as Hwy 809. The DHO changed the designation on October 16, 1969. The road was gravel surfaced for its entire length. The highway lasted until 1985, when it was decommissioned altogether. Click here to see a route map of Hwy 809, showing historical re-routings and realignments.
