Left - Hwy 571 Junction on Hwy 562 south of Earlton, facing west. For a very brief period in 1937-1938, Hwy 11 passed through this junction. The new Thornloe Diversion was completed in 1938, which bypassed the original Hwy 11 route between Thornloe and Earlton, including this intersection. An old corner diversion used to exist at right which carried Hwy 11 traffic north towards Earlton. This corner diversion has since been closed to traffic and graded out. See an Enlarged Photo Here.

Right - Facing east along Hwy 562 towards Thornloe from the Hwy 571 Junction. Note the slight curve in the road, which once carried Hwy 11 traffic into the corner diversion. The corner diversion was subsequently closed to traffic and graded out, thereby restoring Hwy 562 as the through highway at the intersection. See an Enlarged Photo Here.

Left - Facing north along Hwy 571 towards Earlton from the Hwy 562 Junction. Note the slight curve in the highway, which is among the last remnants of a historical corner diversion at this location. The entire route of Hwy 571 between the Hwy 562 Junction and Earlton served as the Ferguson Highway (Hwy 11) until 1938. See an Enlarged Photo Here.

Above - Approaching the southern terminus of Hwy 571 at the Hwy 562 Junction. Traces of the historical curve diversion can still be seen at left, where a line of shrubs follows the arc of the old highway alignment leading to Hwy 562. See an Enlarged Photo Here.
