History of Secondary Highway 571:

Secondary Highway 571 is a local highway in the District of Timiskaming that provides access from Highway 562 to Earlton, located on Highway 11 north of New Liskeard. Highway 571 was first designated by an Order-in-Council dated May 9, 1956. The route was first depicted on a Preliminary Route Plan prepared by the Department of Highways of Ontario (DHO) in June, 1956. Highway 571 has remained more or less the same ever since the route was first established in 1956. The highway was paved from the Highway 11 Junction southerly through Earlton in 1962 and from Earlton southerly to the Highway 562 Junction in 1970. Unless posted otherwise, the speed limit on Highway 571 is 80 km/h (50 mph). Services are available on this highway in Earlton.
