Left - Facing north along Hwy 69 towards Murdock River Road. This point marks the beginning of the Lovering Lake Diversion, where nearly 5 km of the original route of Hwy 69 was recently bypassed. The old Hwy 69 alignment is visible at left, while the new highway continues straight ahead. Compare this photo to the ones above from 2007 and 2008, before the Lovering Lake Diversion was built. Left - Intersection of Murdock River Road on Hwy 69. Note the old Hwy 69 alignment at right, which has been temporarily closed to traffic. Once the new four-lane highway is completed, Murdock River Road will continue south from this point along the existing Hwy 69 alignment in order to service adjacent properties. See an Enlarged Photo here.

Left - Facing south along Hwy 69 at Murdock River Road. Once the new four-lane highway at left is complete, the original Hwy 69 alignment will be realigned so that it ties into Murdock River Road. The roadway carrying Hwy 69 in the foreground is only a temporary connection to tie in the Lovering Lake Diversion into the existing highway alignment. It will be abandoned once the four-lane highway is completed. See an Enlarged Photo here.

Left - Old and new alignments of Hwy 69, facing south towards Parry Sound. The new alignment of Hwy 69 at left is following the future southbound lanes of the four-lane highway. The bypassed Hwy 69 alignment down in the valley is Murdock River Road. The grade differential between the old and new highway alignments at this point is quite substantial! See an Enlarged Photo here.

At the time this photo was taken, the old Hwy 69 alignment was closed. However, it will eventually be reopened as a service road beside the new four-lane Hwy 69 once the adjacent Hwy 637 Interchange is completed and opened to traffic. See an Enlarged Photo here.
