Left - Still River Bridge on Hwy 69 north of Britt. This attractive steel arch bridge was completed in 1954, and was one of the last structures of this design constructed on Ontario's Highways. Surprisingly few steel arch bridges were built in Ontario by the Department of Highways. See an Enlarged Photo here.

Right - From this elevated observation point beside the roadway, this interesting sag curve north of Still River gives the highway a roller-coaster appearance, which is compounded by a significant horizontal deflection.

Left - French River Bridge on Hwy 69 south of Sudbury. The beauty of this steel Pratt truss bridge is further accentuated by the stunning scenery and rugged terrain that is typical of this region of Ontario. See an Enlarged Photo here.

Right - The French River Bridge was completed in 1957, several years after Hwy 69 was opened through this area. A temporary Bailey Bridge was put in place in 1953 to carry traffic while this permanent bridge was being constructed. The rock fill approach to the former temporary bridge can still be seen beside the pier at the north end of the current steel truss span.
