History of Secondary Highway 529A:

Secondary Highway 529A is a minor collector highway serving as an access road from Highway 529 to the small community of Bayfield Inlet, north of Parry Sound. The highway was created out of a route renumbering in 1961, when the existing route of Highway 529 was renumbered as Highway 529A. The old alignment of Highway 69 between Pointe-au-Baril and the Magnetawan River was renumbered as Highway 529, after Highway 69 was reconstructed on a new alignment. Highway 529A was gravel-surfaced for many years. The highway was finally paved in 1987. The route of Highway 529A has not changed since it was first designated in the early 1960s. Unless posted otherwise, the speed limit on Highway 529A is 80 km/h (50 mph). There are no services available on Highway 529A.
