History of King's Highway 8B (Rockton):

King's Highway 8B was a short Business Loop serving the community of Rockton. The highway was created in 1959, when the Rockton Bypass was completed and opened to traffic in June, 1959. This new bypass diverted traffic on Highway 8 & Highway 52 around the community. The old alignment of Highway 8 & Highway 52 through Rockton became Highway 8B & Highway 52B. Both routes were signed concurrently for their entire length. The Rockton Business Loop lasted until April 1, 1970, when it was formally decommissioned.
