HWY 503 #4

Above - Secondary Highway 503 route marker below a "FORMERLY" tab at the Hwy 48 Junction in Kirkfield. Jurisdiction over this section of Hwy 503 was turned over to Victoria County on January 1, 1998. After the highway was downloaded, this section of Former Hwy 503 was renamed Victoria County Road 6. See an Enlarged Photo Here.

Above - Highway transfer notification sign on Hwy 503 east of Kinmount. These white signs were placed on many downloaded provincial highways in the late 1990s to advise motorists that they are no longer travelling on a provincially-maintained highway. The entire length of Hwy 503 was turned over to Simcoe County, Victoria County, Peterborough County and Haliburton County on January 1, 1998. Hwy 503 was the longest Secondary Highway to be completely downloaded. See an Enlarged Photo here.
