Left - Sign indicating snow tire and tire chain requirements for motorists who use Hwy 99 in winter. As the name suggests, the Sea-to-Sky Highway (Hwy 99)
climbs quickly in elevation north of the Pacific Ocean port city of Squamish. See an
Enlarged Photo Here. (Photograph taken on May 29, 2015 - © Cameron Bevers) Right - Guide sign marking the chain-up area for trucks on northbound Hwy 99 north of Squamish. This sign makes the use of Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) Highway Gothic Font - a highway sign font that was seldom used in British Columbia. See an Enlarged Photo Here. The northbound lanes of Hwy 99 pass through a steel arch bridge, while the southbound lanes of the highway are accommodated on a newer concrete structure. See an Enlarged Photo Here. Left - View of the Garibaldi Range from Hwy 99, about 10 km south of Whistler. Due to the forested terrain along most of Hwy 99, unobstructed views of the
surrounding mountain ranges are relatively uncommon. Wedge Mountain is the highest peak in the Garibaldi Range, with a summit elevation of 2,895 m (9,498 feet) above
sea level. See an Enlarged Photo Here. (Photograph taken on May 29, 2015 - © Cameron Bevers) Right - Mount Brew overlooks Hwy 99 about 10 km south of Whistler, as the highway winds south towards Squamish. See an Enlarged Photo Here. (Photograph taken on May 29, 2015 - © Cameron Bevers)

Left - Hwy 99 winds north alongside the Green River between Whistler and Pemberton. The highway rarely strays more than a kilometre away from the river, and in
some places such as the case here, the road and river run right beside each other. Counter-intuitively, the Green River flows from south to north, seemingly away
from the Pacific Ocean. However, this river drains into Lillooet Lake, which ultimately drains into the Fraser River near Chilliwack. See an
Enlarged Photo Here. (Photograph taken on May 29, 2015 - © Cameron Bevers) Right - Snow-capped Mount Currie appears as Hwy 99 heads north out of the Whistler Resort Area towards Pemberton. See an Enlarged Photo Here. (Photograph taken on May 29, 2015 - © Cameron Bevers)

Left - Facing south along Hwy 99 about 12 km north of Whistler. The alignment of Hwy 99 is very constrained at this point, as it is sandwiched between the
cliff, the Green River and the adjacent railway line. See an Enlarged Photo Here. Left - Warning sign approaching the Rutherford Creek Bridge on Hwy 99. Excessive runoff from this creek has evidently washed out the highway bridge in the past,
as a system of warning signs including sets of overhead flashing warning beacons exist on both approaches to the bridge on Hwy 99. See an

Left - The descent towards Pemberton along Hwy 99 is narrow and winding. The highway clings to the side of the gorge about 5 km south of Pemberton near Nairn
Falls. See an Enlarged Photo Here. (Photograph taken on May 29, 2015 - © Cameron Bevers) Right - British Columbia Hwy 99 route marker on southbound Hwy 99 in Pemberton. See an Enlarged Photo Here. (Photograph taken on May 29, 2015 - © Cameron Bevers)

The Pemberton Town Centre lies a short distance west of Hwy 99. Until the 1990s, Hwy 99 reached its northern terminus in Pemberton. The highway was extended north from Pemberton along the Duffey Lake Road to Lillooet and then north along the former route of Hwy 12 from Lillooet to the Hwy 97 Junction at Hat Creek in the early 1990s. See an Enlarged Photo Here. (Photograph taken on May 29, 2015 - © Cameron Bevers)
